Escaping Google Part Two
so, by now google should be a couple of steps back from siting on my shoulder on the internetz.. but it’s still watching.
how can i punch it in the face a little more..
well, pages that have the “like with whatever” buttons are explicitly loading things from the beast.. how can i stop them??
Browser plugins
Privacy Badger replaces all the standard like buttons, blocking the script loading.. that’s one less contact to the mothership.
The badger also claims to learn what tracking looks like and adapts itself to the web, i don’t want to sit around waiting for it to learn so i’ll give it a hand
Ublock Origin a smart content blocker with downloadable block lists
while this probably slows down privacy badgers learning capabilities (by pre-blocking stuff) it seems like it’s a good way to quickly and easily load in some blocking that works from day one.
Network Blocking
ok, that’s got my browser sorted out, but what about other software and devices like a phone.
well, i found Pi-Hole with this i can blacklist entire domains off the network. With the appropriate lists this should help reduce the number of tracking systems i can get to
so, yeah
